Title: "The Road Not Taken: Experimental Approaches to Juvenile Rehabilitation in Europe"

Abstract: Juvenile delinquency is a scourge on modern western societies. The changing face of youth alienation, and the tumultuous cultural, demographic and socioeconomic shifts in Europe have created novel configurations for the surge of juvenile delinquency, proving previously established punitive responses inadequate. This project is an ethnographic investigation of the experimental modes European nations are devising to care for deviant youth in times of increased migratory fluxes, the rise of the political far right, and crippling austerity measures. How national histories, scientific paradigms and moral imperatives merge to create unique spaces for healing and rehabilitation for adjudicated adolescents in France and Greece.
