Acknowledging IES

All recipients of the Institute for European Studies funding are required to acknowledge IES support in published materials, posters, Cornell calendar, social media, talks, websites, emails, and other communications related to the funded project. Below is some suggested text:

"This work was supported [optional: in part] by the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University."

If you would like to include more detail, consider one of the following phrases:

  • Through the Institute's Luigi Einaudi Chair Innovation Grant Program.
  • Through the Institute’s Language Instruction Travel Grant Program.
  • Through the Institute's Mediterranean Studies Initiative.
  • As part of the Institute's Abraham and Henrietta Brettschneider Exchange.
  • As part of the Institute's Event Co-Sponsorship Program.

Student fellowship and grant recipients are asked to acknowledge IES funding on their resumes or CVs using the full title of the award as follows:

  • Luigi Einaudi Dissertation Fellowship from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Michele Sicca Research Grant from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Manon Michels Einaudi Research Grant from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Frederic Conger Wood Fellowship from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Susan Tarrow Fellowship from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Michael J. Harum Prize from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Sidney Tarrow Paper Prize from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University
  • Abraham and Henrietta Brettschneider Exchange from the Institute for European Studies, Cornell University

CIES Visiting Scholars and Regional Visiting Fellows are asked to note their IES appointment in their letterhead, email signature, and on published papers. For example “Visiting Scholar, Spring 2020, Institute for European Studies, Cornell University.”
