Acknowledging CIES

All recipients of Cornell Institute for European Studies funding are required to acknowledge CIES support in published materials, posters, Cornell calendar, social media, talks, websites, emails, and other communications related to the funded project. Below is some suggested text:

"This work was supported [optional: in part] by the Cornell Institute for European Studies."

If you would like to include more detail, consider one of the following phrases:

  • Through the Institute's Luigi Einaudi Chair Innovation Grant Program.
  • Through the Institute’s Language Instruction Travel Grant Program.
  • Through the Institute's Mediterranean Studies Initiative.
  • As part of the Institute's Abraham and Henrietta Brettschneider Exchange.
  • As part of the Institute's Event Co-Sponsorship Program.

Student fellowship and grant recipients are asked to acknowledge CIES funding on their resumes or CVs using the full title of the award as follows:

  • Luigi Einaudi Dissertation Fellowship from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Mario Einaudi Dissertation Fellowship from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Michele Sicca Research Grant from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Manon Michels Einaudi Research Grant from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Frederic Conger Wood Fellowship from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Susan Tarrow Fellowship from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Michael J. Harum Prize from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Sidney Tarrow Paper Prize from the Cornell Institute for European Studies
  • Abraham and Henrietta Brettschneider Exchange from the Cornell Institute for European Studies

CIES Visiting Scholars and Regional Visiting Fellows are asked to note their CIES appointment in their letterhead, email signature, and on published papers. For example “Visiting Scholar, Spring 2019, Cornell Institute for European Studies.”

As appropriate, please also consider adding the CIES website to your acknowledgement: https://cies.einaudi.cornell.edu/
