Past Recipients

Tor Georg Jakobsen was a visiting scholar with CIES from February to March 2014. Tor was a post-doctoral fellow in Political Science at NTNU. He obtained his Ph.D. in Political Science in 2011 at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and has previously worked at Trondheim Business School. At NTNU Jakobsen currently teaches courses on Advanced Social Statistics and Research Design and Methods. His research interests are in political behavior, peace research of quantitative methods. 

Kateryna Pishchikova was a visiting scholar with CIES for two academic years 2013-2015. 

Before coming CIES, Kateryna spent a year at the Transatlantic Academy in Washington, DC, working on a collaborative project that dealt with the state of Western democracy and liberal world order. She was also research fellow at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy. Her research focuses on issues of democratization and the role of civil society in political transformation as well as democracy promotion.

Kateryna earned her PhD from the University of Amsterdam, where she also taught MA and BA courses on transnational politics, foreign assistance, civil society, and democratization.

Maria Jimenez was a visiting scholar at CIES for Fall 2013.

Maria is currently is an assistant professor in the Department of Logic, History and Philosophy of Science at UNED in Madrid. Her research addresses issues in the Methodology and Philosophy of the Social Sciences, with a focus on the use of experiments (both field and lab) in the Social Sciences.

She has worked as a researcher for the Spanish National Science Council, in the field of Science Policy and and in Political Economy. She did her PhD thesis at the European University Institute in Florence.
